Step 4 · Decontaminate and inspect. Before polishing, the paint must be clean to the touch and the defect must be visible: clay bar, pad for the DA or towel, an inspection light that reveals swirls and holograms, tape to protect trim and covers for the wheels.

Which pad with which compound?

The colour tells the function: green cuts, blue corrects swirls and medium scratches, yellow polishes and refines, red finishes and applies protection, orange AIO cuts and polishes in one step. Match pad and compound: cutting compound with green or blue, polish with yellow, finishing or wax with red. Wool for heavy cutting on the rotary.
