Polishers and backing plates, foam pads by colour, wool and sandpaper for heavy cutting, clay and inspection light. Each family was designed to work with the next: 5" plate with 5.2" pads, long throw with low-profile pads.
MaxShine made its name with long-throw dual action polishers: 8, 15 and 21 mm throws for every kind of job, rotaries for heavy cutting and mini machines for where the big ones cannot reach. Backing plates and extensions complete the system.

When foam is not enough: natural and synthetic wool for heavy cutting, sanding marks and oxidation, premium wool with a foam base to cut and add gloss at the same time, and 1500-grit sandpaper to level before polishing.
Before polishing, the paint must be clean to the touch and the defect must be visible: clay bar, pad for the DA or towel, an inspection light that reveals swirls and holograms, tape to protect trim and covers for the wheels.
Washing and workshop
Wash without scratching, dry without dragging, brush what the mitt cannot reach and keep everything at hand on the wall or on the cart.
A safe wash starts with grit-guard buckets and a mitt that releases dirt, and continues with foam, compressed air for the crevices and the right nozzles on the pressure washer.
Every towel has a job: 1200 and 1000 gsm to dry without dragging, 800 and 600 gsm plush to remove polish and wax, waffle and 300 gsm for glass, 330 gsm for dirty work. Edgeless where the paint is delicate.
Brushes for wheels, tyres, engine and pet hair, detailing brushes, drill brushes that do the heavy work on fabrics and applicators for coatings, waxes and dressings.
An organised workshop sells: wall holders for polishers, pads, brushes, bottles and foam cannon, carts that carry everything to the car, stools and creepers for the low areas, rolling stands for wheels and motorcycles.

Tool maintenance
Pads and microfibres are consumables, polishers are not. Eight simple habits, from the pad brush to the wall holder, make the difference between replacing pads every month and replacing them every year.

Clean the pad with the brush after every panel, with the machine spinning slowly; change pads when they saturate. At the end of the day wash in warm water with pad cleaner, squeeze without twisting and dry on the holder, hook side up. Never store pads damp or in the sun.
Separate by use (drying, polish, glass, dirty work) and wash separately at 40 °C, no softener, no bleach. Tumble dry on low or air dry. A towel that hits the floor moves to dirty work.
Blow out the air intakes at the end of the day, check the hook-and-loop and the flatness of the plate every three months and replace the carbon brushes when the machine loses power or sparks (spares come in the box). Store the machines hanging, with the cable coiled.

What detailers ask us most often about throws, pads by colour, backing plates, microfibres and warranty.
The throw is the diameter of the circle the plate describes. 8 mm (M8S V2, M8 Pro) is gentle and safe: finishing, waxes and beginners. 15 mm (M15 Pro) corrects faster and is the most versatile, with a 5" plate. 21 mm (M21 Pro) covers more area per pass with a 6" plate: large panels and high-volume corrections. Many workshops run one 21 mm and one 15 mm.
A dual action (DA) spins and oscillates at the same time: no holograms and no burnt paint, so it is the everyday machine. A rotary (M1000, MB1200 Pro) only spins: it cuts much faster with wool and is the choice for sanding marks, heavy oxidation and gel coat, but needs an experienced hand and usually a refining pass with the DA afterwards.
The colour tells the function: green cuts, blue corrects swirls and medium scratches, yellow polishes and refines, red finishes and applies protection, orange AIO cuts and polishes in one step. Match pad and compound: cutting compound with green or blue, polish with yellow, finishing or wax with red. Wool for heavy cutting on the rotary.
The pad should be slightly larger than the plate: 5.2" pads for 5" plates and 6.2" pads for 6" plates. High profile works on rotary and DA and is more forgiving on curves; low profile (with an EVA layer) is more stable on long-throw DAs (15 and 21 mm) because it wobbles less. Cross-cut holds more compound and slings less.
The DAs (M8S V2, M8 Pro, M15 Pro, M21 Pro) use a 5/16"-24 thread, the DA standard. The rotaries (M1000, MB1200 Pro) use M14 or 5/8", depending on the version. The store plates are labelled by machine: Pro Series 6" for the M15 and M21, M8S series for the M8S V2 and M8 Pro, M14 for the rotaries.
While working, clean with the pad brush after every panel. At the end of the day wash in warm water with pad cleaner, squeeze without twisting and dry hook side up, ideally on the wall holder. A well-kept pad handles dozens of cars; replace it when the foam tears, loses density or the hook-and-loop stops gripping.
Drying: 1200 gsm Duo Twisted Loop or 1000 gsm Vortex. Removing polish, wax and sealant: 800 or 600 gsm plush, edgeless. Coatings and glass: 360 gsm carbon fibre, waffle or 300 gsm. Wheels, engine and dirty work: 330 gsm black. Wash in groups at 40 °C, no softener.
No: it is a complement. At 0.96 kg, 80 W and 1" to 3" pads, it polishes wheels, door handles, pillars, consoles and badges without a cable. For panels, a 15 or 21 mm DA. The included battery gives 35 to 45 minutes of continuous work.
Yes. The 1200 W brushless motor has no carbon brushes to replace, holds its speed under load, starts softly and is quieter. The 6 m cable with a 360° swivel lets the machine turn without winding up. It is the rotary for workshops that cut every day.
Lifetime manufacturer warranty on tools (repair or replacement for defects in materials or workmanship) and a one-year comprehensive warranty on DA and rotary polishers; the M8S has six months.
